"One of the happiest places I've ever been to in my life. The family is genuinely loving and caring and really laid back. I spent 2 months at the farm and I wish I stayed a lot longer. For me it was a perfect balance of farming work and relax time; we rarely worked more than 5 hours a day, ate an incredible meal 3 times a day and got to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Waterfalls, jungles, villages, and the most amazing sunrises are some of the things you get to enjoy for free.
Go stay at the Layao farm its truly an incredible place!"

"What an unforgettable experience!! I only stayed one week at Layao Farm (wish I could have stayed longer...) but enjoyed every single day! It’s not only farming work that makes the experience, you also learn about Karen culture and their simple way of life while staying at their house. Wat and Poh are a very authentic family, caring well about everybody. Poh cooks three amazing meals a day, we couldn’t get enough of the spicy sauce and the bunches of bananas brought to table after the meals:) It was really great!! Thank you Wat and Poh!!"
Andrea – Switzerland.

"We spent 2 weeks at The Layao Farm and it was a great experience. The surround landscape is amazing and Wat took us to 2 different waterfalls. We also went to some Xmas parties on the village that were really nice, as well as the football day on the 1st of January.
But no doubt, the best of this farm is the family. Really kind and generous people that make you feel like part of their family. After 2 weeks at the farm it was hard to leave."
Catarina – Portugal.

"Working with Wat and Poh and staying at their farm was once of the best experiences I have ever had on my travel. The accommodations are good, with a separate bed and room for every volunteer. There is more than enough to eat at every meal, they are very good cooks! And the surrounding area is beautiful, with waterfalls to visit and villages to explore. But the best part is the family! The family is wonderful, kind, and welcoming. Working with them is a fun and interesting experience. Wat can do just about everything, Poh is always willing to laugh with you, and the kids are fun to be around. The family is the best part of the farm. Don't plan to just stay a week- you will get more out of it the longer you stay, and you won't want to leave!"

"I was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks at the Layao farm. Wat and Poh are great hosts who are very accommodating and appreciate the help they have on the farm. The work was hard but rewarding and extremely fair with around 2 hours in the morning followed by a long break for lunch and then 2 hours in the evening and thats it! Plenty of time to socialise with the other helpers in the house or just to enjoy the breathtaking view! The accommodation is very impressive with every helper having their own bungalow, all with showers and the majority with western style toilets, apart from the first few seconds the water for the showers is very cold, I personally found them to be very refreshing after a physical day of working. The food is amazing, with 3 traditional meals a day, Wat is a great cook and with such a basic setup it's amazing to watch him work! If you have a chance, watch Poh do some traditional Karen weaving, it's very impressive.
Thank you Wat, Poh and the boys for the great experience and I wish I could have stayed longer!"
George – England.

"We spent 1 week with Wat and Poh and had a great time. Very friendly, welcoming family and a beautiful place. The food was plentiful and they catered well for us vegans. We worked around 4 hours a day on clearing fields and planting and there was plenty of time to explore the surrounding area including the village and nearby waterfalls."
